St Albans Primary Pupil awarded Blue Peter Badge for helping hedgehogs!

This year, St Albans Primary School has been actively participating in our Hedgehog Friendly Schools programme. They are working diligently towards earning an award in recognition of their efforts to support and protect hedgehogs. To discover all the exciting activities they've been involved in this year, check out another blog entry from last year!

One dedicated student has recently gone above and beyond to help hedgehogs within the school grounds and has caught the attention of Blue Peter for their amazing efforts. Hear from Wilf below as he shares his thoughts on this incredible experience!

How did you apply for a Green Blue Peter Badge?

"I filled in the form with my mum and had to answer some questions. I had to tell them what activities I had taken part in, what ideas I had for the show and also send some photos." - Wilf, St Albans Pupil.

What hoggy activities did you share with them?

"I told Blue Peter all about how I had enjoyed litter picking with Hoggy Hub at school. We took part in Pick4Prickles and did lots of picks on the field and around the playground. We still litterpick now, at playtimes, with our hedgehog kit. I also litterpick with my family, even in the rain! As I wanted to carry on saving hedgehogs and nature, I asked Santa for a picker and bin hoop for Christmas. I was so excited when I got them!" - Wilf, St Albans Pupil.

What do you think Blue Peter should do?

"I suggested that they should have more hedgehog friendly content on Blue Peter and that they should make hedgehog houses on the program. I was so excited when my badge came and I can’t wait to get back outside to litter pick and help save the hedgehogs." - Wilf, St Albans Pupil.

Thank you, Wilf, for your incredible contributions! We're excited to see more of the amazing work you've done for hedgehogs throughout the year. Your dedication is truly inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work!
